Oroville grinds out win over Darrington...

The second game of the 2010 Emerald City Kickoff Classic was a battle between two schools with a combined enrollment of 264. It was a battle between two teams that were very content with running the football, Oroville would only throw five passes the entire game.

It was obvious both teams were playing their first games of the season, as each offense could only reel off one touchdown. On the final play of the first quarter, Runningback Nicky Perez would get the ball and take it 52 yards for the touchdown.

Unfortunately for for both teams, that is all the scoring they would see until 1:53 was left to play in the game and Eddie Ocampo would burst through the Logger defense for 58 yards and the score.

Darrington(0-1) would fumble twice inside the Oroville(1-0) five yardline, losing both.

With just 1:27 left in the 4th quarter, Oroville Defensive Lineman, JD King would pick up a fumble and roll 35 yards to the touchdown.

Darrington's Justin Smith would take the ensuing kickoff all the way back to get the Loggers on the board, but it would be too little, too late as Oroville would roll to a 22-7 win in 2B action.

Nicky Perez would lead the way for the Oroville Hornets with 16 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Next up for both teams:

Darrington travels to Sultan to take on the Turks on September 9th.
Oroville will be at home September 9th vs. Okanogan.
